Curriculum & Care

Pre Birth to 3

If your child is aged under three years then the National guidelines Pre-Birth to Three: Positive outcomes for Scotland’s Children and Families shall be used to inform and support the care and learning of your child. This guidance recognises that critical learning takes place before a child is 3 and the experiences of children from Pre-Birth to Three can influence the rest of their lives.

By focusing on the four key principles, Rights of the Child, Relationships, Responsive Care and Respect and putting into practice the 9 key features - Role of Staff, Attachments, Transitions, Observation, Assessment and Planning, Partnership Working, Health and Wellbeing, Literacy and Numeracy, Environment and Play - staff shall carefully plan play activities both indoors and outdoors to nurture your child’s growth and development at this crucial time in their lives.

Appropriate clothing for outdoors, weather depending.

Sun screen in the summer.

A sun hat in the summer and a warm hat and gloves for the winter.

For babies and young children we ask that you provide nappies, wipes, formula/breast milk and cereal for your child.

A packed lunch.

Opening Times

Our opening times will be from 7.30 am till 6.00 pm Monday to Friday. We are open for 52 weeks a year, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and the 2nd of January. If these days fall on a Saturday or Sunday the nursery will close on Monday and/or Tuesday, where necessary, as substitute public holidays.

The nursery will close at 4.00 pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, when they fall on a working day.

Any holidays that you wish to take are at your discretion, however you will still be charged. Parents are required to notify the nursery 2 weeks in advance to enable us to staff the nursery accordingly.

Next Steps

Viewing and Settling in New Children

For more information we suggest you and your child come along to visit the nursery and see what we have to offer. We believe that each child is an individual and deserves the best start in life, so prior to starting at nursery formally, we suggest your child comes along to visit a few times for settling in sessions. The details of these can be discussed at your personal viewing, where you will have an opportunity to meet our team of staff and also your child’s key worker.
